“Out of all the directors I’ve worked with during my many years of performing, I don’t think anyone has come close to Zoë Lillis. The specification and originality that she brings to her work is unlike anything I’ve done before. I’ve gotten the chance to work with Zoë on her production of Offstage (2021) and Amélie (2022) and they both stand to be some of my most favorite productions I’ve ever been a part of. I had the pleasure of taking on the title role of Amélie and I couldn’t have done it without her. The countless hours that she set aside to really dissect and understand Amélie allowed me to have such a deep understanding of my character that I don’t usually get to have. I initially wasn’t going to audition for Amélie because I didn’t think it was a show that I fit into, but Zoë opened me up to seeing similarities between Amélie and I that I probably never would’ve discovered on my own. The amazing thing about musical theatre is getting to step into the shoes of someone else but I think what makes it extra amazing is being able to show an audience what parts of yourself you bring to that character. At the end of the day I think that most amazing thing about working with her is getting to hear all the obscure, crazy things she brings to light in an effort to relate ideas with each other. Without getting too into it, Tinkerbell and Amélie are basically the same person, trust me. If you get the chance to work with Zoë, it will be an experience you will never forget.”
